Trail Detail

Let's clear things up. This is not a sleazy tour. It's an educational, know-your-neighbourhood kind of tour, hor. And yes, we're going INTO the red-light areas. No need to be shy. We're all adults here. So, no need to bring your big Paris-Hilton sunglasses (harlow, night tour, leh). So, what's on this tour? Singaporeans would associate this Geylang area with China & Thai ladies. How not to? They're so visible. Pass by Geylang Road or Guillemard Road, you'll see them. Patrolling, keeping the streets safe... hehe. • Okay, seriously now... not many people know that this area is like a mini United Nations. Where nationalities from all over the world congregate. There are Russians, Mongolians, French, Uzbeks, Spanish, Scandinavians, Africans, Arabs, Indians, Sri Lankans, Thais, Filipinos, Cambodians, Malaysians, Indonesians, Chinese... the list goes on. • They don't mix. They have their own areas. And we'll be going into these different areas. You'll not only see the ladies but also funny characters lurking around the lorongs. There's this guy who peddles snacks, drinks and ice-cream in one of the lorongs!? Haha!! Best to see it for yourself, right? These lorongs are also used as boundaries for pricing. The outer 'ring' offers cheaper options. The inner 'core' areas houses the more expensive... umm... you know lah. • In the midst of all these 'action', Geylang has many religious buildings. There are mosques, Taoist and Buddhist temples. Far out, right? To end the tour, we'll be chilling out at a roadside durian stall. Yah Kang (Centipede Durian) with a tall glass, under the starry night sky. How cool is that?! • This is a walking tour, so dress light. Bring a brolly; just in case it rains. Our inaugural tour will be on National Day. If you're interested, drop me a line at brown.oliphant@gmx.com. Hurry, limited openings. Cheers! :o)
