Trail Detail
Hungry for great local food? Get on this damn scrumptious foodie trail and eat till you XXXX. We have Malay food (of course lah), Indian, Turkish, Peranakan, Thai, Afghan, Iranian and many, many, many food joints.
Important: WEAR YOUR STRETCHY PANTS!!! NO SKINNY JEANS ALLOWED!!! SARONG WOULD BE IDEAL (weather hot lah these days).
• Our 1st stop:
• The famous Hjh Maimunah Restaurant
- Savour authentic Malay food like 'sambal goreng', 'tahu telur' (yumm), 'siput sedut', 'ayam percik', 'ikan panggang'... etc
- Tip: Go at abt 12noon to avoid the lunch time crowd. If not the queue is SUPER long!!! Trust me. Especially during Fridays.
• 2nd stop:
• Abak Briyani Dam
- If you love Briyani Dam, this is THE place to go. Forget abt Islamic, Briyani Hse or Tekka Market. This is it! The rice is so bloody fragrant. You can eat it without any mutton or chicken or fish. If you are going with friends, ask for the tray special (at least 4 person). They'll serve the briyani on a metal tray. Fun way to eat. Try it!
• 3rd stop:
• Zam Zam Restaurant
- Ok, this place has lots of great food but the one to try is the murtabak. Forget abt the rest. Try the mutton 'Grande' size. Shiok! Eat it when it's hot. Really great when hosting some friends.
4th stop
• Bumbu Restaurant
- Personal favourite of mine. Great Thai Peranakan food. Start with the mango salad. Careful hah... it's spicy! Then try the 'cumi-cumi'. Sweet and spicy. Crunchy too. Delightful. Don't forget the desserts after your main course. A must try is the 'durian-with-pulut'. Savour every bite... Yummm... :o)
