Trinity Theological College (TTC) arose from the camaraderie and spirit of Christian unity experienced by the heads of the Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian churches when they were interned at Changi Prison during the Japanese Occupation. Founded on 4th October 1948, it was the first theological college set up to meet the need for an inter-denominational training institution to nurture local leadership for the churches in Singapore and Malaya. The Lutheran Church also became a part of this union in 1963,
Since its inception, the College has trained thousands of local and overseas pastors and church workers, many of whom eventually became heads of their own denominations and theological schools. Moving into its new campus at Upper Bukit Timah in 2001, the College leaves behind a theological training legacy that actually began in 1902 when a training school was established by the Methodist Church at Mt Sophia. Today, the College has developed into a major centre of theological education in Asia.
