Former Residence of Chen Wen Hsi

Born in Guangdong, China in 1906, Chen Wen Hsi was one of Singapore’s first-generation artists.  He arrived in Singapore in 1947 and spent more than 20 years teaching in various institutions. As an artist, he was never bound by tradition of medium and was versatile in both Chinese and Western art.  Chen received many awards and numerous exhibitions both internationally and in Singapore.  This residence was formerly the home of the Chen Wen His from the early 1960s till his death in 1991.
