Tanglin Halt was one of the settings for local film "Perth", starring Lim Kay Tong and directed by Djinn. The film deals with the personal journey of a Singaporean man in his 50's, and features a poignant walk in Tanglin Halt. Says Djinn of the scene, "Harry's (the main protagonist played by Lim Kay Tong) walk to Tanglin Halt ... was a metaphor for the rigid social order which he feels has entrapped him. Yet it is not a bitter experience as it is also a throwback to his younger days where he felt the security of his mother's love and the comfort of home. And that to me is Tanglin Halt, an old familiarity which we all too often overlook and reface, without thinking of its importance in the social and heritage context which it might carry for many."
