Established in 1908 by Chinese missionary Tay Sek Tin, this church, formerly known as Chinese Christian Church, was supported by pioneers such as Teo Eng Hock (1871-1957) and Lim Nee Soon. In 1924, the church moved to its present location to make way for the expansion of Lim Nee Soon’s rubber factory. In compensation, Lim Nee Soon donated the land and building funds for a new building.
The old chapel you see on the right side actually dates back to 1967. By the 1960s, the original building funded by Lim Nee Soon had deteriorated badly and was demolished. This building, completed in 1967, was put up with donations from Chinese businessman, Ang Oon Hue (1910-1998).
As the congregation grew over the years, more facilities were needed. In 2004, a new building was completed. Today, the church is active in community service.
